Custody Review Board

Custody Review Board

The Custody Review Board (CRB) reviews and makes recommendations on the placement of young people in custody or detention in Ontario

Youth in custody are serving a court-ordered sentence. Youth in detention are being held temporarily (e.g., after arrest or before trial) while awaiting court proceedings or a decision on release.

A youth in custody and in detention can apply to the CRB for:

  • a review of the youth justice placement where they are being held or transferred to
  • a review of their transfer from a place of open custody to a place of secure custody
  • a review of the decision by the Provincial Director to deny their request for a temporary release or reintegration leave.

To file your application with the CRB, call 416-327-4673 or 1-888-728-8823 and speak to a Case Processing Officer who will take your details.
