Effective February 24, 2025, the Social Benefits Tribunal (SBT) is changing its process of consent to communication by email for appellants, making it easier for appellants to engage with the SBT. The SBT has updated its Appeal (Form 1) to include a footnote that by providing their email address, appellants are agreeing that SBT can communicate with them by email instead of using mail or fax. As a result, Consent to Communicate by Email (Form 10) is redundant and has been removed from SBT’s list of forms. Additionally, the SBT Rules of Procedure and the Practice Direction on Communicating with the SBT have also been updated to remove references to Form 10.
