The Landlord and Tenant Board has made changes to the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) function on the Tribunals Ontario Portal. Among other things, the “Agreement Reached” button in the ODR section is now more appropriately named “Request for Mediation” to better and more simply reflect the purpose of clicking this button.
The ODR process provides the parties the opportunity to communicate between themselves to attempt to resolve their issues before the hearing.
Parties are encouraged to review the information about the ODR process in the portal and use ODR in the following scenarios:
- To communicate among themselves and request mediation when they consent to resolve their issues by mediation and with the help of an LTB Dispute Resolution Officer
- If they reach a settlement by themselves and want a Mediation Agreement or Consent Order.
